When a person has increased number of bowel movements or he suffers looseness of stool; the
first thing that pop up in mind is diarrhea. However there exist various such diseases that have the same symptoms, therefore before starting with the medication, it is always beneficial to get the actual problem diagnosed.
In fact, diarrhea itself is of two types: acute and chronic; and treatment for both differs. The Nursing Diagnosis for Diarrhea involves few tests to be taken care of. In case of acute diarrhea, Measurement of blood pressure, Stool Examination depending upon varying conditions and immunologic tests are required. And if a person is suffering from chronic diarrhea, then usually the main focus shifts from dehydration and infection to the diagnosis of non-infectious causes of diarrhea. This includes X-rays of the intestines, Fat malabsorption test, Sugar malabsorption test, Hydrogen breathing test, blood and thyroid test and in some cases biopsy of the small intestine also.
